A puller can be operated in either manually or by the use of hydraulics. Manually operated pulling machines have their limitations based on the ability of the operator and strength. For the hydraulically operated, they have a specific amount of power and abilities. They can be used in any situation since their power delivery is not majorly dependent on the operator.

Therefore depending on what one can afford, he or she should look for the best of the machine there is so as to serve the purpose. Arms are what the puller uses in order to be able to work. Depending on the amount of strength required, the jaws may vary in numbers and sizes too. The arms may also be independent or dependent to each for movement. The self aligning arms are usually preferred for jobs that require precision while the dependent jaws work in any situation.
