A Do It Yourself Epoxy Pebblestone

By Anita Ortega

The most fulfilling thing to do is being able to make something worth appreciating. Meaning, it is always best when you were able to achieve something that everybody notices. We all love to hear about how excellent our job is.

One of the first parts of the house that visitors see is our floor. Sometimes, we might not be able to notice it, it looks old and dirty already because of stains that will not be taken off anymore. This is absolutely frustrating. Panicking about it will not solve your problem though. All you have to do is to replace your floor designs with epoxy pebblestone. This is one of the most wanted floors since it stays intact for long.

This kind of floor will absolutely take away your frustration over stained and old looking flooring. What is more exciting about it is that, it is very to install. Doing it yourself will surely excite you more. There is always a different feeling when you were able to do things on your own.

First, make sure that your floor is clean. Sweep all kinds of dirt and debris with a broom and mop the surface with a neutral cleaner. Wait till the floor is dry. The reason for this is that, if the floor is dirty, chances are the pebbles will not stick firmly and will easily be detached.

After that, you need to check if your floor has cracks. If it has, get your epoxy and mix it in a large bucket. You will be needing 2 epoxy primers and follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer to be able to mix it perfectly. If you do not mix it the way it should be, you might not get the most accurate results.

After the 2 very simple and easy steps, get your epoxy ready for mixing. You will need a large bucket so you can mix it properly without spillage. Before buying the primer, check the back part of its packaging if it has instructions to properly mix it. It is the only guide you will have to get the best result.

Now you are ready to put the mixture on your flooring. Use a paint roller so you can have an equally divided primer. Now wait for at least an hour for it to dry.

You will need another batch with 2 epoxy resins and the stones. One mixture will only be suitable for a hundred pounds of stones. Right after you mix it together, pour it to where you want. Using a trowel, create equal layers of pebbles around your floor.

Check the work you have done after 24 hours. It is normal that there are some loose pebbles. You may simply sweep them but never throw it. You can use those loose stones on your next batch of pebble flooring. After you have taken the loosed ones, you can brush it with varnish so it will look shiny and will not hurt even if you step on it barefooted.
