Here Is Information On Bender Boards

By Andrew Myers

The design of modern synthetic landscaping edging material makes them look like natural wood. The purpose of the edging material is to define borders in a compound. Good examples of edging materials are bender boards. Depending on where one lives, these products go by several different names. Recycled plastic is the main material used to make this product in the United States.

These boards are usually sold as coils that can be easily cut into various sizes that one desires. Since they are synthetic, they normally do not decompose like wood. In addition, these products do not usually succumb to either splinter or weather elements. These characteristics are what make people to buy these boards. Installation is also easy to execute with or without getting help from an expert.

Unlike wood which requires being repainted, stained, and other forms of preventive maintenance, this edging material does not. It is capable of retaining it beauty and good looks for as long as it is installed. This reduces the cost of buying and installing it in the longer term. It can also be installed in all kinds of weather conditions without having to worry too much.

When installing this edging material, one is advised to start by collecting all the tools, equipment, and materials they need for the job. One should ensure that they buy enough coils of the edging material in addition to stakes needed for installation. One should ensure that they have enough stakes to be able to install them at intervals of 4 to 5 feet apart.

One needs to be equipped with a hand saw, measuring tape, knee pad, and a spade. The border that need to be edged must be measured using a string. Sometimes one may buy the board when they are not ready to do the installation. If this happens, the board should be kept until one is ready to install it. Heavy stones can be used to hold the board in place until it is used.

The installation process starts with marking the path on the landscape that the board will go through. The border should be demarcated using a string. After finishing the marking process, one ought to step back and look at how the borders are marked. Afterwards, one should dig a V-shaped trench along the string. The depth of the trench should be able to accommodate the entire board with only an inch protruding above the soil.

When the trench is all done, the board should be inserted into it. While inserting, one must ensure that one inch of the top of the board sticks above the ground. The board should be secured in place using stakes. In case one needs to cut the board, they should use the hand saw to do the job.

One should fill the trench on both sides by putting dirt back in. The dirt should be tapped using the spade to compact it slightly. This results in a beautiful border in which flowers, shrubs, small trees and other kinds of plants can be planted. This procedure can be employed to subdivide the compound into numerous portions.
