By Jocelyn Davidson

Having a pool could be really fun and convenient especially if you have a big family. It could save you the trouble from going to water themed parks and resorts. But the maintenance could also be a hassle and the expense is most likely cringe worthy. That is why you need to know how to properly take care of it.

Maintenance supplies and equipment are easily accessible mostly wherever you are. A lot of those swimming pool supplies in Canada are readily available as well for their summer and winter seasons. Although what you need to put attention to is what kind of stuff you would need.

You can hire a professional agency to clean your poor regularly, although that would be a bit costly. If you have the right equipment and supplies, you can definitely do the maintenance yourself and also save some money. It is technically not that difficult to do, so as long as you have the right stuff.

The supplies and equipment can be bought at most home depot, sports, or hardware stores in your area. You can also check it out online if you do not prefer what is sold locally and order from them instead. First though you need to know what these are before you can start buying anything.

There are two types of cleaners for your pool, automatic and manual. The automatic one cleans dirt and debris off the floor. There are three types for this, suction side automatic cleaner, robotic cleaners, and pressure side automatic cleaners. For manual, it has a lot of varieties which have different functionalities.

One simple equipment you need is a leaf skimmer. It is basically a mesh of wire attached to the end of a long pole or handle. You use this to fish out leaves or any other floating particles on the surface of the water. This makes sure that those leaves or other foreign objects would not clog up the filter. Invest in one with a longer handle so you can reach out further.

Another common cleaning equipment is a tile brush. It is just a wooden block with bristles on one side. You use this to brush the walls and floors. This makes sure that there is no growing algae and moss on the tiles and surface to prevent it from becoming slippery.

When you think that automatic cleaners could be too costly, you can still opt for manual pool vacuum. The thing is powered with a battery and can clean the walls and the floors. It only takes a few minutes for you to be done with the cleaning. You would also need a different kind of brush. An algae brush has metal bristles that is mainly used on concrete or cement to clean it.

Adding supplies like Chlorine, either tablets or water based, a pH tester so you can check the levels of the water, and a cover when the pool is not in use. Keep the routine regularly so you can prevent slippery surfaces, clogged filters, and infected or dirty water. There are many other ways you can do these and it is up to you how you prefer to maintain your it with whichever equipment or supplies.
