By Marci Glover

The decorating aspect of the home is meant to reveal who lives inside it. As such, it should be a reflection of the dwellers' personalities. There are many concepts that exists when it comes to decorating, but the unique Feng Shui tips below will ensure proper flow and happy life. When everything is placed right and the right elements are used, people feel better within the space. It dictates how they work, how the rest, and of course, how they function as a whole.

Developed in China thousands of years ago, it shows how to balance the energy of the space. In doing so, it is meant to provide health and fortune for those who reside in the space. The direct translation means wind and water, and is based on the Taoist vision. It's about understanding the nature and that the land is filled with energy.

Certainly, people can use tools to analyze the energy that exists. Through the proper use of the tools, they can interpret various bits of information that can help them improve their lives. In this practice, everything is measured, from a color scheme to the placement of furniture, and the air quality as well.

For example, placing a desk in a home office that faces west can negatively affect the way someone works. In feng shui, the desk should face east, providing the person using the desk with more focus and a higher level of productivity. The way of bed is placed in the bedroom will also have an impact on how rested they will be, and whether there is a good energy in the space or not.

Do not misunderstand this concept with decorating using oriental objects and statues. Instead, any style can be used, so long as there is a perfect balance between the Yin and the Yang. The Yin is feminine energy, which can be translated into feminine colors, flowers and soft patterns and fabrics. The Yang is the opposite.

One of the most important parts of this concept is to bring the best air quality into the space. Use modern technology with air purifiers, or the perfect plants that purify. Bring fresh and natural scents into the space with essential oil diffusers, and regularly open windows to let in fresh air.

Make the front door able to receive positive energy. Remove any obstructions from the walkway and be sure that the address is visible. Indoors, add warm and reflective colors, ensuring a perfect color palette that would make people feel better. Do this through the use of paint and a variety of accessories, like cushions, and so on.

Remove clutter from the home. What doesn't serve you should just be removed. It hasn't been worn or used recently, throw it out, recycle it, or donate it. This is especially true when there are items that contain upsetting memories. Add a water fountain. Furniture placement is a huge part of this concept, and it should be about comfort and safety. The largest piece, regardless of the room, should be positioned in a way that it sees the door, to avoid creating that sense of vulnerability that comes with never knowing who is entering the space.
