Baby High Chair Ideas

By Darren Hartley

A baby high chair comes in very handy once a baby is ready for solid food. It gives a child a safe place to experiment with new tastes and textures. It makes it easy for a parent to supervise meals and clean up afterwards. High chairs come in a wide variety of styles and prices.

The basic metal framed or plastic framed baby high chair comes in models that fold, making it easier to move and store. The nuisance to this type of high chair is its offering of less comfort to the baby and less protection from the mess the baby will inevitable make while eating.

The full featured baby high chair have all the features of the basic model plus extras including well-padded seats, wheels to roll the high chair from one location to another, detachable trays that easily go on and off, dishwasher safe tray covers and adjustable heights and seat reclines. Some models even convert into a booster seat or kid sized chair for use when the baby is older.

The baby's food is bound to find its way into every crack and crevice of a baby high chair. It is best to consider a high chair with less tiny, hard-to-wipe areas in its seat, harness, tray and frame. The seat and harness must be simple to remove and clean or thrown into the washing machine.

The wheels of a baby high chair make it easy to move it from room to room, from the kitchen to the dining room. Therefore, it is best to make sure that these wheels lock in place for accidental rollaway protection.

Padded seats in a baby high chair make it easier on the baby's tush. A foot rest would be a nice feature for older babies. It is better to make sure that any seams along the front of the seat do not have sharp edges that could scratch the back of the baby's legs. Furthermore, there must be no holes or sharp edges on the tray bottom that could potentially hurt the baby's fingers.
